It’s so nice to meet you!

You know that feeling you get when you really find your purpose? I enjoy that on my drive home from each of my sessions. Whether it’s from getting the young unsure child to feel comfortable and play, or having the baby finally fall asleep.

I love my job.

I’ve can remember my first point and shoot camera from back in the 1990’s. I can remember standing in front of the film display wondering what I was going to photograph, and which film would be the best option for me. My introduction to SLR cameras came when I took photography 101 in High School. I loved it. I wanted to have a dark room in my house someday.

College happened. I spent time at Westminster studying math, Music and Psychology until I transferred to the Art Insitute of Pittsburgh and finished my Associates Degree in Graphic Design. During my time in college, I worked for JCPenney store. I met a girl who worked at the JCPenney Portrait Studio who urged me to apply. I spent the next 6 years working as a Portrait Studio Photographer, a School (yearbook headshots and sports) Photographer, Senior Photographer and then finally a Portrait Studio Manager. I learned a lot about photography, working with people, posing and working with what you have available. I used to say, I love what I do, but I hate my job. It lacked a work life balance and I was stressed out.

I left the studio altogether and working in banking. Yes. I know. Total shift. I did still photograph on the side but it was only supplemental. I continued my career at the Blackhawk Federal Credit Union where I worked full time until my second child was born.

I’ve been a full-time photographer since September of 2019. My primary focus is on portrait photography, but I am open to other work. I have done work with Small Businesses during the height of the pandemic and loved that.

I’ve led workshops and taught classes to budding photographers. I’m an open book and am willing to help others learn how to get started and to improve.

TLDR? I love photographing.
